We’re a little bit non-traditional in that we meet in a converted seafood store. Head over to 901 W. Susquehanna (corner of 9th and Susquehanna) and come on in !

Welcome !

We gather for worship at 10 am each Sunday at 9th and Susquehanna. The foundation for our worship together at Ekklesia of North Philadelphia is our day-by-day response to Jesus’ command in Matthew 22: “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”

The first part of our time together is for sharing our needs and praises with one another and bringing those things before God.

We then move onto reading God’s word, participating in Jesus’ mission by giving an offering, and worshipping through singing. We then have time to hear a message from the Bible (during these 35 or so minutes, our kids younger than 8 are able to head to a special program geared especially for them.)

At the conclusion of the message, we’ll stand and recite our Statement of Faith, and then participate in the Lord’s Supper before we sing a final song and receive a blessing.

God’s word is central

The greater part of our worship as a church is given over to hearing God’s word both read and exposed. Although we may have occasional short topical series (such as a recent series on Hard Questions About the Faith), the normal diet of the church is hard-hitting consecutive expository preaching. Our pastor aims to expose what God has to say to us in His word and apply it to our lives individually and as a body. In recent years, we have been fed from the Books of Micah, Job, Revelation, Psalms, and 1 Corinthians. In the first part of 2022, we are jumping into the series called “God Meant it For Good” about the life of Joseph in Genesis 37-50

The sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are also an important part of our worship. Baptisms have been significant times in the life of our church as we celebrate how God has given us new life thru the death and resurrection of His Son and the power of the Holy Spirit. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper each week; it keeps Jesus and what He has done for us at the center of our corporate life.
